Daily Trading Income: Expectations vs Reality
Daily targets can encourage overtrading. Professional performance is usually assessed across a series of trades, not one session in isolation.
Why daily targets can become dangerous
When a trader feels required to finish every day in profit, the target can override market conditions. That can lead to forced trades, larger size and poor exits.
Use limits instead of promises
A maximum daily loss, maximum number of trades and defined setup criteria are more robust controls than a guaranteed daily profit target.
Measure what matters
Track execution quality, expectancy, drawdown and adherence to the strategy over weeks and months.
